On
November 15th vote to elect:
Kimberly Lineger
for
Islands Trust
I moved permanently to Salt Spring in 1997 after spending 6 years
traveling between Steveston, BC and the Gulf Islands. I am a Salt
Springer. This Island is my home.
I did my bachelor degree in sociology and a second degree in
political science (undeclared) at the University of Victoria. I am
presently completing a certificate program in Program Management for
Victim Services through the Justice Institute of BC.
Professionally, I have worked for the BC Chamber of Commerce as
their legislative researcher\committee manager and as an office
administrator for the Richmond Women’s Resource Center. I also
served a term as Islands Trustee for Salt Spring Island from 2002 to
2005. For the last eight years I have been the Program Manager for
the Salt Spring RCMP Victim Services Program and I am a tireless
advocate for crime prevention through social development.
My current community involvement includes being the
Secretary/Treasurer for the Salt Spring Crime Prevention Association
and a Leader for the local Girl Guide Unit. I am also an active and
enthusiastic member of the Stitch Dimension Quilt Guild on SSI and
when I have any free time, I can be found at the fabric store
planning my next quilting project.
During this election campaign, I ask islanders to calmly and
carefully consider changes which will benefit Salt Spring’s future.
I hope you will think quietly about your dreams for our Island home,
and talk candidly amongst yourselves and with the candidates seeking
your votes. Get some information. Reflect. Discuss. Stay
open. And, most importantly, make room for new ideas. And don’t
forget -- your vote is important. For I believe, as a now
famous senator from Illinois says, that “Yes, we can change.”
