Thirteen new trustees and thirteen incumbents have
now been confirmed as elected to the Islands Trust
in the November 19 local government elections.
Bruce McConchie has been declared elected as the trustee
for the Islands Trust on South
Pender Island, following a judicial recount on a tie
vote with the result determined by lot.
Two South Pender Island candidates, incumbent Alma
Lightbody and newcomer McConchie, were tied, with 98
votes each, following a recount by the Chief
Election Officer on November 23. The judicial
recount was required and, when the tie was
confirmed, the elected candidate was determined by
lot in accordance with the Local Government Act.
